Nurses are the heartbeat of healthcare. From monitoring vital signs to administering medications, they meticulously assess patients, detect subtle changes, and intervene promptly. But they also help beyond medical needs, connecting on a human level as they hold hands, wipe tears, and offer words of comfort to patients.
For Nurses Week 2024, we asked those who have been helped or inspired by nurses to take the time to recognize them as a difference maker. The nominations speak to the nurses who make a difference in the lives of patients, families, and communities daily.
Nurses Week 2024 Stories
Marisa
Marisa is one of the most caring hardworking women I know! She is a mother of two, and although she would love to be with them full-time, she is passionate about her job and her patients and what she does. When she told me she was going to be a nurse back in high school, it made perfect sense because she loves deeply and has always had such a nurturing spirit. She is an incredible nurse and truly gives her all in all she does!

Amanda K.
Amanda has helped our family navigate “life home from the NICU.” Our son spent the first 4 months of his life in the NICU and requires 16 hours a day of home nursing. Amanda does 3 shifts a week. She loves our son Sean and has taught us so much, too. We feel so blessed to have such a warm, caring, and organized nurse helping us care for Sean!

She constantly goes above and beyond for not just her patients but their families as well. She works in the Emergency Dept for Pediatrics and comes face to face with heart-wrenching situations. She is a mother of 2 and is a huge part of facilitating collaboration and unity within her nursing team.

Sydney K.
For as long as I can remember, my best friend Sydney has wanted to be a nurse. Yesterday, she had her last day of nursing school, and next Saturday, she graduates! She’s worked so hard and is one step closer to her dream. As a person representing the next generation of nurses, I know she’s the girl for the job. I’m so proud of her and am in constant admiration of all the hard work put in by nurses every day.

Celebrating Nurses Every Day
As we celebrate Nurses’ Week and reflect on the invaluable contributions of those in the nursing field yesterday, today, and tomorrow, let’s remember that their impact goes beyond a single week or month. Whether in moments of joy or challenges, they remain committed to making a real and lasting difference.
Get involved with celebrating nurses this week by sending them to our list of deals and discounts just for them, sharing their stories, or getting them a gift to recognize their hard work.
